Mark Completes 100 Mile South Downs Way Cycle Challenge

Robert Luff & Co. partner Mark Holding completed a gruelling 100 mile charity cycle challenge on Saturday.

After setting out at 7am Mark completed the South Downs Way - from Winchester to Eastbourne - just after midnight on Saturday.

The tough ride was made even tougher by some of the hottest conditions of the year so far.

Mark, who lives with several chronic conditions, including Crohn’s disease, ankylosing spondylitis and psoriasis, was fundraising for Chestnut Tree House Children’s Hospice. So far he’s raised more than £1,100.

He said: “When we set the date for our challenge we didn’t expect to be doing it on one of the hottest days of the year. The heat made the ride even harder work and we were hindered by eight flat tyres among our group.

We had to do the last 2 hours in the dark. By this point we were exhausted and it was very difficult to see where we were going.

When we finally made it into Eastbourne it was a huge relief, but I also felt a great sense of achievement.
