Summer is here, and with it comes the perfect time for outdoor activities and events happening around Worthing. From vibrant parades and educational museum activity days to colourful carnivals, there is enough to thrill everyone. Here are some of the best family-friendly events taking place in Sussex this summer. It’s why here at Robert Luff and Co, we love where we live!

Eastbourne International Airshow
15 August 2024–18 August 2024
Location: Eastbourne

Airbourne will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2024. The Eastbourne International Airshow welcomes visitors across a 2-mile flying display line along the Eastbourne seafront. Launched in 1993 and becoming one of the UK's largest free seafront airshows, Airbourne has continued with industry leadership, being voted Tourism Event of the Year and Best Free Airshow several times. The show took a two-year break during the pandemic, which means that 2024 will be its 30th year.

Central Park, Brighton
14 June 2024–14 July 2024
Location: York Place, Brighton

One-month-long outdoor pop-up venue right in the very heart of Brighton, in this very unique and iconic central location, featuring delicious and well-curated food and drink offerings, a DJ in the evenings, every game of Euro 2024 on the biggest screen in the South, and some of the biggest music artists and bands in the world from around the world—all bathed under the sun shining down high above Brighton!

Brighton & Hove Pride
3rd–4th August 2024
Location: Sheridan Terrace, Brighton

Fabuloso is the UK's biggest LGBTQ Pride festival and the Brighton & Hove Pride official fundraiser for the Brighton Rainbow Fund. Described by The Guardian as "the country's most popular LGBT event," the Brighton & Hove Pride Festival is meant to be a vibrant celebration of everything that is great about our city's diverse community, with visitors from across the globe enjoying its spectacular celebrations.

Go Ape Crawley
All Year
Location: Tilgate Park, Crawley, West Sussex.

Nestled in the scenic Tilgate Park, Go Ape Crawley offers a variety of outdoor activities suitable for all ages. Take a breather, refuel, and then head out and about around the heritage parkland and into the Nature Centre in the Walled Garden café. You have a large children's play area overlooking the lake, and you can hire family or single boats to go out and paddle about on the lake—rowing boats, canoes, and double sit-on-top kayaks (family boats), and stand-up paddle boards and sit-on-top kayaks (single boats).

Pizza Nights at Artelium Wine Estate
Multiple Dates
Location: West Sussex

Come for the evening to the estate with fresh Neapolitan-style pizzas out on the terrace or in the barn. Safari Pizzas will turn up in their Land Rover, complete with a wood-fired oven in the back and African-inspired pizza toppings. Yum, with a glass of Artelium!

This is a family-friendly evening, and the event will be held in the outside barn or on the sunny terrace. Pre-booking is essential, as seating is limited.

Sip and Paint at the Potager

Location: Potager Restaurant

Come and enjoy a fun-filled morning with us at Potager Restaurant, which is creative and relaxing. Have a brush; sip on your favourite beverage. Let the inner artist in you shine! No experience is necessary—the talented instructors from @thepaintclub.uk will guide you every step of the way. This event could be nothing short of perfect for both a budding artist and a stressed soul who wants to connect with their relaxation and let out a little creativity. Get ready to create your very own masterpiece in beautiful surroundings.

Elliefest 2024
13 July 2024
Location: Clapham and Patching Village Hall

This is the second year of this one-day family festival, taking place on Saturday, July 13, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Clapham and Patching Village Hall and Grounds near Worthing, West Sussex. Starting at 11 a.m., festival goers will be treated to a full line-up of musical artists, including local favourites Shoreham AllStars, Sussex Rock Choir, Danni W, emerging artists from BIMM Brighton, including Willow Jarvis and Dixie Davies, and a closing set from Glastonbury DJ Sound Lady.

Good Food Festival
16–18 August 2024
Location: Goodwood Racecourse, Chichester

Top culinary talent at Chichester’s top foodie festival. Bringing together foodies, chefs, and producers from across the UK, this year's three-day festival is going to be even bigger with more cooking inspiration, culinary delights, entertainment, and food galore. The visitors can look forward to award-winning street food, carefully selected specialty food and drink producers, activities for families, drinks master-classes, question and answer sessions, book signings, live music, and much more.

Miniature Steam Weekend at Amberley Museum
14–15 September 2024
Location: Amberley Museum

Come see several miniature and model steam engines on site on September 14 and 15. While they may be smaller, they have just as much power and might as the full size, and you will be able to compare the full-size and visiting miniature engines side by side as they trundle around the 36-acre site. On both days, there will also be a parade of all of the engines on display, ending in one place, so you won't miss seeing any engines.

Why not drop by and experience the views and smells of this fleet of miniature steam engines as the museum transforms into a world of steam, smiles, and whistles?
