Supporting Local Charity Turning Tides

We recently took part in the Turning Tides Big Summer Sleepout at Worthing FC Football Ground and we're really pleased to report we raised a fantastic £675.00 to donate to the Charity.

Four of our Team members went along to the event on Saturday 18th June armed with their sleeping bags not knowing exactly what to expect. Slightly underprepared for the Rain, Thunder and Lightning that appeared that night, it's fair to say that not much sleep was had but all the team reported what a fantastic experience it was!

Natalie, our Assistant Branch Manager at Lancing reported:

"I am so pleased that I had the opportunity to take part in Turning Tides Summer Sleepout on behalf of Robert Luff & Co, I found it to be an incredibly humbling experience that has really opened my eyes to the challenges that people suffering from homelessness have to experience, the weather was unkind to us and threw a thunderstorm and a heavy downpour of rain our way, there were certainly moments that I really had to dig deep into my willpower to keep me there but hearing the stories of people who have, through no fault of their own, found themselves with no shelter in a storm in the past I knew I had to continue and I am so grateful that I did.

Not only did this become a personal challenge for me, it has raised awareness and much needed financial support for the charity and I strongly recommend anyone considering it to take part at the next one.

Turning Tides really do provide live saving support for people, I will be eternally grateful for the opportunity to witness first-hand the important work they do and will continue to help in any way that I can."

Kelly our Senior Lettings Consultant found the experience quite emotional, hearing stories from people who have experienced homelessness and how Turning Tides has helped them get life back on track. She would highly recommend people get involved with the challenge next year to help fund raise for this fantastic local Charity.

"I really just want to acknowledge Turning Tides for all the amazing work they do and how unbelievable comfortable and safe they made us feel sleeping out for the night."

A growing number of people forced to sleep rough are relying on our Community Hubs across West Sussex to provide them with warmth, safety, food and support.

Anyone’s life can unravel into homelessness. So Turning Tides brings together compassionate individuals and organisations who work tirelessly to transform the lives of people in our local community and to change perceptions of homelessness.

They provide a warm, safe space to listen to anyone who comes to us for help. They provide real pathways out of homelessness and are committed to supporting people at every stage of their journey. The breadth of their services empower people experiencing homelessness to become confident and find the strength and belief in themselves to create a brighter future.

Natalie, Kelly, Maria, Gina and Jade would like to say a huge thank you to all those who sponsored them to do this event and thank you for helping them raise a fantastic £675.00!
